Saint Peter's is where people go to receive the Pope’s blessing
on Sundays.
The best artists of the Renaissance worked for their whole lives to decorate this version of St. Peter's: Bramante(1444-1514. Bramante was the original architect of this version of St. Peter's), Michael Angelo (1475-1564), Baldassare Peruzzi (1481-1536), Raphael (1483-1520) and, Antonio Sangallo
the Younger (1483-1546).
Take a good look at the top of the
dome, it's absolutely fantastic! Physical proportions of the sublime St. Peter's Basilica
are staggering: it covers about 18,100 square yards, extends 212 yards
in length, and carries a dome that rises 435 feet and measures 138 feet
across its base.

The view from the top of St. Peter's Basilica is considered by many to
be the best view of Rome. You can see all the way to the Colosseum, Piazza

Have you ever seen Gladiator, the movie? This is
where it was filmed. The Coliseum is a must-see sight for visitors to Rome. It is one of the most well
preserved marble structures in the world. It was originally built as a horse racing
circuit and can accommodate as many as 55,000 spectators. Opened
in 72 AD, its finishing was celebrated for 100 days.

A delightful and refreshing sight, this fountain was built by architect Salvi (1735) at the time of Clement XII,
and decorated by several artists of Bernini's school. It is the front
of Palazzo Poli ,a large palace, and is decorated with statues and bas-reliefs
on heaps of rocks. It is believed that if you throw a coin in this fountain,
you will return to Rome again!

Roman Forum,

The Roman Forum was the center of the economic, political and social life
of the city. It includes the remains of the triumphal arch of Emperor
Septimius Severus. It also features the Temple of
Saturn, Arch of Titus and the House of the Vestals. For many it was the Centre of Universe. The Roman Forum
is credited with giving the word ‘forum' to our language as a place of debate, discussion and decision.
When visiting the Roman forums, take some
water with you (hard to buy a bottle there). And you can leave your
fashion clothes at home, you will come out all dirty and covered in dust
after a visit to this place...
A good view over the forum can be had from the top of the Capitoline
hill - just past the museums on the right hand side.

This is the place where you will find Michelangelo's exquisite ceiling
of the Sistine Chapel. It's stunning beauty attracts millions from all
over the world. Due to its high popularity, it is usually very crowded.
You may have to wait for as much as 2-3 hours! To avoid this, try going
on weekdays. Also due to large crowd, there isn't much time to look at
everything and find answers to questions. Due to minimal labeling, its
a good idea to take along a very detailed guidebook. Be prepared for some serious neck
craning while you look at the amazing ceiling of the Sistine Chapel!

Galleria Borghese has some of the most stunning paintings and sculptures in the world. It is a veritable Art lover's delight. Because it is often very crowded, we suggest you make advance reservations. You are only
allowed to be there for a 2-hour time slot. Consider hiring a tour guide when visiting the gallery-you will learn a lot more about the artifacts of the gallery in the allotted time window.
